The Tenino School District is committed to providing all of our students with a safe, supportive learning environment that prepares them to be responsible citizens and a contributing members of global society. To support the District's mission, the Tenino School District , with the generous support of the Tenino Combined PTA, is implementing the Rachel's Challenge program in both the Elementary and Middle School for the 2018-2019 school year. The program, named in memory of Rachel Scott, the first victim of the Columbine High School tragedy, is designed to inspire, equip and empower people to create a positive culture change in their school and community by starting a chain reaction of respect, kindness and compassion.
The objectives of Rachel’s Challenge include:
Create a safe and productive learning environment by delivering proactive solutions to violence and bullying
Stimulate real culture change by actively involving the entire community in the process
Change lives by providing culturally relevant social/emotional training
Improve achievement and ensure results by engaging the participants heart, head and hands
Age appropriate assemblies to introduce students to Rachel’s Challenge will be presented during the school day on September 25 at the Elementary and September 26 at the Middle School.
As part of the program, we are also planning to create a Friends of Rachel (FOR) Club at Tenino MIddle School, where students can meet to work on the planning and development of activities, projects and events to spread kindness and compassion in their school and community.
You can help us motivate our students toward positive change in the way they treat others by encouraging your child to create a chain reaction of kindness and compassion. With this goal in mind, we would like to invite our Tenino students, families, staff and community members to join us for a special Rachel’s Challenge Community Event on Tuesday, September 25 at 6:30 pm in the Tenino Middle School Gym.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the TES or TMS office or visit rachelschallenge.org for more information about the program.

There is no football practice today Friday, September 14th.

Washington State 2018 Healthy Youth Survey
Our District is participating in the Washington State 2018 Healthy Youth Survey during fall of 2018. The Healthy Youth survey includes questions related to physical activity and diet, unintentional and intentional injury, substance use, risk and protective factors, access to school-based services, and sexual behaviors, abuse and orientation.
Survey results are used by schools, communities and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks. Participation in the survey is voluntary and the students' answers are anonymous.
Please read the Parent and Student Notification Letter for more information about the Healthy Youth Survey at http://5il.co/4uv0.

TMS Girls Soccer Game Cancelled Today, September 11th.

TMS teachers getting ready for school!! We can’t wait to have our kids here.

Hello TMS Families,
As we gear up for the first days of school, we wanted to communicate the current status of student schedules.
We had an amazing turnout at open house, which was awesome! However, the drawback is that we have had a great amount of schedule change requests!
We will continue to work on schedules throughout the holiday weekend with the intention of filling requests, and balancing class sizes.
That being said, we are full this year! Which is great, but it may turn out that first choice of electives may not be available. Don't worry, if your student does not get their first choice during the 1st semester, we will do our best to make sure they can 2nd semester.
Have a great long weekend! We are excited to get started! See everyone on the first day of school, Wednesday, September 5th!

Please read the 2018-19 TMS Welcome Back Letter!

Great job at the Fund Run!!

We are happy to report that Skyward is now up and running and parents are able to access Family Access. Now that we are able to access our system, it will take district staff some time to manually input data from the last few days, but we are working diligently to make sure the information is accurate. Thank you for your patience these last few days!

Skyward Update: Good Afternoon! We received the following info from our Information Processing Cooperative: The WSIPC engineering team and contractors worked to restore full services through the night. Installation of hardware is complete, but the testing process is taking longer than expected. For now Skyward is still down, but we are hopeful that services will be restored soon. We'll keep you posted!

FYI...Due to a system outage within WSIPC, (Washington Schools Information Processing Cooperative), Skyward is temporarily experiencing a service disruption statewide. This means Skyward Family Access as well as the ability to post to student lunch accounts will be unavailable until the issue can be resolved. WSIPC understands the widespread impact this will have on district operations and has directed all available resources toward resolving the issue as quickly as possible, but the impacts of the outage may last several more days. We will keep you informed as they continue to secure a resolution. Thank you for your patience!
